Laboratory Technician II Status:
Full Time, Non-Exempt Anticipated state of 8/1/2023 Primary Duties and Responsibilities Coordination of laboratory instructional materials and specific laboratory duties with Lab Technician II.
Preparation of lab instructional materials (solutions, cultures, unknowns, glassware, equipment, general supplies, etc.
) for multiple biology, chemistry, earth science, and physics courses.
Instruction of Work Study students as needed under direction of Lab Technician II regarding laboratory duties.
Laboratory maintenance Assist with unpacking & checking incoming supplies, equipment, and associated paperwork.
Assist with oversight of supplies and equipment inventory, maintenance of records.
Assist with laboratory and equipment maintenance.
Assist with checking on classes in session for last minutes needs Assist with coordinating the Quality Assurance activities of the Natural Science Division as outlined in the College's Chemical Hygiene Plan under direction of the Assistant Director of Security/Safety.
Assist with faculty in preparations of laboratory materials.
Animal room maintenance and cleaning.
Assist with maintaining and controlling the inventory and acquisition of laboratory chemicals and equipment in order to assure that the standards of handling and storage are properly met.
Assist with performing chemical processes, such as neutralizations and dilutions to assure that chemical disposal is in compliance with all governmental regulations.
Assist with identifying, segregating, and properly storing chemical waste that is targeted for disposal.
Assist with assuring that hazardous materials in the science areas are stored, handled, and disposed of in compliance with all regulations and that the appropriate documentation is maintained.

Requirements Bachelor's Degree in one of the sciences, i.
e.
, Biology or Chemistry.
Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and equipment.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability oversee the preparation of materials for laboratory courses.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
